Keith Volz

Education: Ohio State University , BS in Marketing, University of Cincinnati , AS in Microbiology

Professional Accomplishments: Primary Inventor of 32 Patents/16 pending, Authored & co-authored 3 Technical Papers, and Member of 5 Trade Associations

Family: Married to Joyce, 2 beautiful daughters Kimberly & Amanda, 2 great sons-in-law Mike & Rob, and 5 wonderful grandchildren.

Community Involvement: Jamestown Council 3 Terms, Jamestown Mayor  since 2007, Jamestown Methodist Church, Jamestown Civitan Club-Past President, Jamestown YMCA Board of Directors, Jamestown Historic Society Board of Directors, Forestdale East Neighborhood Association-Past President. Town appointed delegate to Piedmont Triad Regional Council of Government. Town appointed delegate to the High Point Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Lynn Montgomery

Education: High Point University, BS in Accounting

Professional History: Certified Public Accountant with Lynn Montgomery, CPA. Member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.

Family: Married with one daughter

Community Involvement: She has served on the Jamestown Town Council since 2011 and is a past Mayor Pro Tem. Vice President of Jamestown Business Association. Volunteer with GO FAR program. Served on Planning and Zoning Board and Master Pedestrian Plan Steering Committee. Former Finance Committee Chairman for Historic Jamestown Society. Council liaison to the Planning Board.

Georgia Nixon Roney

Education: Ragsdale High School , NC State, Campbell Law University

Professional History: Assistant District Attorney until 1995, and then opened Nixon Law Offices, PA. Owner & President of Nixon Law Offices, PA, currently employ 2 attorneys and 2 paralegals.

Family: Georgia is proud to say that she has lived in Jamestown her entire life and is raising her family here. She is married to Keith Roney, and has 2 daughters, Elaina Catherine and Hannah Sophia. Georgia attends St. George Greek Orthodox Church in High Point, NC.

Community Involvement: Board Certified Specialist in State and Federal Criminal Law Member NC Academy of Trial Lawyers, National Association of Criminal Defense attorney's, Guilford Inns of Court, Guilford County Bar Association, and a member of Who's Who. Town appointed alternate delegate to the High Point Metropolitan Planning Organization. She has served on the Jamestown Town Council since 2007 and is a past Mayor Pro Tem.

Lawrence Straughn

Education: Basic Law Enforcement Training, FBI National Academy Class 227, thousands of hours of in-service and specialized training.

Professional History: Retired with the rank of Captain in the Special Projects Division, but also has experience as Captain with Internal Affairs, Personnel and Training, Legal Process and District Commander.  He served on several law enforcement boards while with the Sheriff’s Office including the newly opened Family Justice Center in Greensboro where he was a founding committee member.   He continues to serve on the county’s motorcycle team during charity rides, motorcades, parades and other special events.  He is a certified motorcycle safety instructor with North Carolina Bike Safe.

Family: Married with two children, one grandchild.

Community Involvement: Served on the Jamestown Parks and Recreation Board as Board Chairman and previously as a committee member.  He was appointed by the Guilford County Commissioners to serve a three year term as a committee member of the Guilford County Parks and Recreation Commission after this organization’s restructuring.  Prior to the restructuring, Lawrence served on the committee.  He has also owned a business on Main Street and was a Jamestown Swing lead organizer.

 



Billy Ragsdale

Education: Attended Guilford College in Greensboro, NC.  Ragsdale served in the United States Marine Corps from 1963 – 1969.

Professional History: Ragsdale was President of Oakdale Cotton Mills from 1985 until the mill closed in 2009.  During his career at Oakdale Cotton Mills, Billy served as Chairman of the Piedmont Associated Industry for several years.

Family: Ragsdale is a widower.  He was married to the late Katherine Antoniadis.  He has 3 children. Seborn resides in New York.  Will and George reside in Jamestown.  Ragsdale has 6 grandchildren.

Community Involvement: Was a Council Member from December 1993 to April 1998.  At that time, Thomas C. Ragsdale, Jr. was the Mayor of the Town of Jamestown.  He died suddenly April 3, 1998. Council Member Billy Ragsdale was appointed to serve the unexpired term as Mayor.  Billy was then elected as Mayor and served in this capacity through December 2007. 

Ragsdale is a past member of the Historic Jamestown Society.  He continues to serve as the Ragsdale family’s representative on the Historic Jamestown Society Board.  Ragsdale is a member of the Jamestown Friends Meeting.
